Keep your head in the game: scorekeeping with PingPoint

PingPoint makes it easy to keep track of the score while you play. Once you have started a match, one of the most convenient setups is a PingPoint Bluetooth button worn on an armband or wristband. It keeps scorekeeping within reach between rallies.

A simple press between rallies

With one player keeping score, the controls are straightforward:

  • Press once when you win a point.
  • Press twice when your opponent wins a point.

The button sends the point to PingPoint, and the score updates automatically. As you walk over to pick up the ball or get ready for the next serve, a quick press becomes part of your rhythm. Before long, it feels like second nature.

The Bluetooth connection gives you room to move around the playing area while keeping the button connected to the app: Flic rate the button at up to 50 metres, and up to 200 metres with a clear line of sight. Indoors it is walls rather than distance that decide it, so treat 50 metres as the comfortable ceiling for a hall rather than a guarantee.

Two players, two buttons

If both players have a button, each player can record their own points with a single press. You win a rally, press your button once, and PingPoint updates the score.

There is nothing to set up for this. A press scores for whoever owns the phone the button is paired to, so "once for me, twice for them" means the same thing from both ends of the table.

Keep the score in view

Choose a screen setup that suits your playing space. You can keep the score close by with a device on the net mount, use an iPad on a tripod, or show it on an external screen or a wall-mounted TV beside the table.

Whichever setup you choose, both players can see the score at a glance and get ready for the next rally.
